Welcome to the High Falls Film Festival!
Since 2001, the High Falls Film Festival has shined a bright light on the many women who contribute to the art and business of film, by showcasing the best independent films created by female cinematic artists from around the world.
There are many things that make our festival unique, but certainly near the top of the list is the diversity of our programming. Our Programming Committee has screened hundreds of submissions to bring film lovers the finest independent films made by women, from high drama narratives to quirky comedies, fascinating documentaries and insightful short films.
We are thrilled to give female filmmakers this platform to showcase their work and are proud to give audiences screenings and experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in our area. And because Rochester was the home to pioneers like Susan B. Anthony and George Eastman, this is the best place to hold a festival like ours.
This year the festival will once again present the Susan B. Anthony “Failure Is Impossible” Award to honor a woman in the industry who has persevered in her career and triumphed over difficulties, Nancy Schreiber, ASC. An award winning cinematographer, Nancy’s career has spanned more than three decades while females represent only 3 percent of cinematographers working today.
We hope you will join us as we celebrate women in film and the art they make for everyone!
