Actress Rosalind Russell

Rosalind Russell recognized that as a female actress she had few substantial lines in the film's script. So, she hired a screenplay writer to rewrite several of the scenes giving her more prominent dialog.

She received Oscar nominations: My Sister Eileen (1942), Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947), and Auntie Mame (1958). In 1972, she received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for contributions to charity.
