Directed by Bartosz Prokopowicz
Combining surreal musical sequences and animation with deeply moving drama, Chemo is one of the strongest and most unusual films you’ll see this year. Thirty-year-old fashion photographer Benek is disgusted with his life and has chosen a date for his suicide, while beautiful and quirky Lena refuses to seek treatment for her cancer. Together they begin a delirious romance and soon their mutual obsession with death is transformed into a fight for life against a seemingly all-powerful enemy. Wildly imaginative and playful despite its melancholy tone, Chemo’s power is enhanced by the sensitive and remarkably convincing performances of its leading actors, Agnieszka Żulewska and Tomasz Schuchardt.
